The Taste of Malasadas

History of Leonard’s Bakery

In June 1882, the British sailing ship arrived from San Miguel Island, Portugal to Maui under contract to work the sugar cane fields. In 1946, Leonard and his wife Margaret moved to Honolulu with their child, and he worked at Snowflake Bakery until he founded Leonard’s Bakery in 1952, and then, they made malasadas. Later on, because of more modern facilities, they moved into their now location at 933 Kapahulu Avenue in 1957.

The Taste of Malasadas

Malasadas, one of the desserts, is delicious. I ate the chocolate malasadas and the malasadas of butter. The two malasadas are both delicious and they include a lot of materials such as sugar, flour, and chocolate butter.


The Price of Malasadas

Last time, we bought a dozen. We spent about 10 dollars. I think it is cheap because it is delicious so I will buy it again.


The Service of Leonard’s Bakery

Thought it is a small store, the clerk is friendly. We had to wait for a while because it is just one line. However, they will give us malasadas as soon as possible.


The Atmosphere of Leonard’s Bakery

Because it is a small store, every customer can talk to each other. It appears that we are a big family, and all guests are siblings of Leonard.
